An exciting opportunity exists to get in on the ground floor with a new company which is about to revolutionise the way we look after our teeth.
Remineralisation
Nearly 100% of the population have been to a dentist at some point and many have had a filling. Have you ever wondered why you needed that filling?
Dental decay most commonly commences with the loss of minerals from the protective enamel on the outside of our teeth, known as demineralisation. In nature, demineralisation is balanced by the body’s inbuilt repair system remineralisation. Modern lifestyle, diet, poor oral hygiene or lack of saliva flow can cause an imbalance in the natural processes. This common situation results in a net loss of tooth mineral which leaves the protective enamel weakened and susceptible to bacterial infection.
Effective tooth remineralisation helps prevent tooth decay and eliminates the most common cause of sensitive teeth – the stab of acute pain that is felt when the tooth is exposed to hot or cold foods or liquids.
Biodental Remin Ltd (BDR) is positioned to become a significant global manufacturer and marketer of products that are capable of remineralising teeth.
There is a significant demand in the dental and functional food industries for products that can simply and effectively remineralise teeth as a preventative measure. Global sales of products in which a remineralising ingredient could be used are approximately US $135 billion per annum. This figure includes sales of confectionery, chewing gums, some soft drinks, pet care products, oral hygiene products and some functional foods.
The first target market will be oral hygiene for which the global market is more than $35 billion with growth of 4-5% per annum. Within this, the market for premium toothpastes is $800 million globally. A premium toothpaste will be one of the first of Biodental Remin’s products.
The company has already manufactured laboratory-scale quantities of a material originally known as “Capodent”, but now trademarked as “Enamelguard”. Gels, toothpastes and mouth rinses for use by dental professionals in the surgery, and by consumers at home, have also been successfully formulated. This product is at least as effective in remineralising teeth as any of the small number of existing alternatives.

Unlike its limited range of competitors, Enamelguard has properties that allow it to be used as an ingredient in a wide range of products that have much larger market potential than just dentistry and oral hygiene.
Whereas other remineralising agents are variously salty, bitter, insoluble or not very soluble in water, need strong preservatives and/or require expensive two-component packaging, Enamelguard is tasteless, highly soluble in water, microbiologically robust and can withstand processing at high temperatures. Consequently, unlike the competitors, Enamelguard can easily be incorporated into mass-market consumer products such as chewing gums, chocolates, confectionery, soft drinks, pet-care products and even food ingredients such as flour and sugar for use in bread, cakes, tea and coffee etc.
Using Enamelguard in this way does not require any significant change in the manufacturing processes for these products and yet it gives them the huge advantage of making them able to help prevent tooth decay. |
